Things to know about the Utah Pride Parade

PARADE ANNOUNCERS:
STAGE #1
“Regent Street” stage | 100 S. between Main st. and State st.
Announcers: Cat Palmer & Jessica Richardson
Cat Palmer
Cat Palmer is a genderqueer artist, writer, community advocate, photographer, and storyteller who has proudly called Salt Lake City home for more than two and a half decades. Originally from Orange County, Cat built a life rooted in queer visibility, authentic connection, and uplifting local voices through art, media, and grassroots community work.
Cat has been married to their partner for the last four years, and together they’ve created a joyful, chosen-family-centered life while raising two teenagers & two adults in Utah. Outside of work, Cat can usually be found tending to their garden, obsessing over birds, or spoiling their beloved geriatric Chihuahua, Stella.
A longtime creative force in Salt Lake City, Cat is serving as the Programming Director for the Utah Queer Film Festival for the third consecutive year, helping curate powerful films and meaningful conversations that celebrate queer storytelling. They also write the monthly “Small Lake City” column for Salt Lake City Weekly and regularly appear on Good Things Utah and ABC4’s newest show, “The Cat’s Meow,” spotlighting local culture, hidden gems, and the people who make Utah unique.
Whether behind a microphone, curating films, or connecting with community members at Pride, Cat brings humor, heart, authenticity, and a deep love for queer joy everywhere they go. catpalmer.com • @catpalmerslc
Jessica Richardson
Thinking back on her ally ship, she recently had a memory of the first poster that adorned her wall at the young age of 8, George Michael. She was born an ally.
Jessica is a local cake designer. She also works two regular jobs. With a love of movies and travel, she always strives to learn people's stories in hopes they feel heard.
She has been involved in the drag community, which included at one time, cooking omelettes for a local drag brunch. Her heart and soul as an ally has, and will always be, about cheerleading and protecting those in the LGBTQ+ community.
Jessica's first intro to the Utah Pride festival was about 16 years ago when two of her lesbian friends from work invited her to come. Since then she has saved spots at the parade for those that couldn't make it early. She has brought friends and family members to the festival in the LGBTQ+ community, all with the hope of creating connections and a safe space for them.
As an ally, there has been nothing more of an honor to her, than having several people over her life feel safe enough to come out to her. That truly is the highest honor.
STAGE #2
“Harmon’s” stage | 100 S. between State st. & 200 e.
***This stage has ASL interpreters and ADA seating***
ANNOUNCERS: Gabi Finlayson & Jackie Morgan from Elevate
Elevate
You may know @elevate_utah from explaining Utah politics online and making the Legislature and Kevin O’Leary wish the internet had never been invented. After working across the country, Jackie and Gabi started Elevate because this state deserves better politics, better leaders, and a gayer agenda.
Gabi Finlayson
Gabi worked for Mayor Pete in Iowa, VP Biden in New Hampshire, and elected the first Black woman to the Massachusetts Senate. Now she’s home in Utah, electing good people, explaining bad bills, and running her mouth online with the confidence of someone who is unfortunately usually right.
Jackie Morgan
Jackie started in politics on Obama, before she could legally vote, which is either inspiring or concerning. She helped pass Better Boundaries and later worked nationally electing school board candidates. When she isn’t deep in spreadsheets, she’s sewing or tumbling rocks like she’s Joann herself.
STAGE #3
“St. Mark's” stage | 100 S. between 200 e. & 300 e.
ANNOUNCERS: Eric Jackson & Nic Maughn
STAGE #4

Becky Moss
I have been hanging around the Utah LGBTQIA+ Folks for the last 50 years
Douglas Cartier

Performed in drag as Clariss Cartier for over 25 years starting in the late 1970’s. About 95% of that was fundraising mostly for the Royal Court of the Golden Spike Empire (RCGSE) and other organizations. We did very few shows where we were compensated. In 1979, I was asked to be a date in drag for a friend in the community who was a high school teacher at Morgan High School. He escorted me to the senior prom at the school in very conservative Morgan county. All his students loved us and it was a very enjoyable evening and the high school has never been the same since.
In 1982 the Lifetime title of "Venus, Goddess of Beauty for Life" was given to me by Empress VI, Marita Gayle. Elected Empress Eleven of the RCGSE in 1987. After my reign, I was President of the Board of Directors eight times for the RCGSE. In the 1990’s I began the House of Cartier that is still going today. I have five daughters and numerous sons-in law.
In 1996, I became a recipient of the Kristen Reis Community Service Award. I was and still am honored for this most respected honor! Many thanks to Kim Russo for nominating me.I am flattered and excited to be a part of this parade and celebration! Thank you to Becky Moss for including me!
